Porsche specifies a 10,000-mile / 1-year interval for the 958’s V6 and V8 engines, whichever comes first — shorter if you do mostly short trips or track driving. Use a full-synthetic oil meeting Porsche’s C30 specification. Skipping intervals accelerates wear on the timing chain tensioners, a known weak point on early 958s.
Pre-facelift 958s use hydraulic power steering; check the fluid level and look for weeping at the rack and pump seals during every service. A slow leak here is common by 80,000–100,000 miles and is far cheaper to catch as a top-up than as a full rack replacement.
Coolant should be flushed roughly every 4 years regardless of mileage — the 958’s plastic coolant fittings and thermostat housing are prone to becoming brittle with age, and old coolant accelerates that.
