Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to charge a Taycan from 10% to 80%?

At a 350 kW DC fast charger (e.g. Ionity): approximately 18–22 minutes on Gen 1 with Performance Battery Plus. The 2025 refresh with 320 kW peak achieves similar times. At a 50 kW public charger: approximately 65 minutes. Full Level 2 AC charge (11 kW): approximately 9.5 hours. Detailed charging curves are in the Charging chapter of the manual.

What does OBC (On-Board Charger) mean in the Taycan manual?

The OBC converts AC power from a wall charger into DC power for the battery. The standard Taycan OBC handles 11 kW AC. The optional 22 kW OBC (available in some markets) halves the home charging time. The manual section on AC charging explains the difference.

How do I activate Launch Control on a Taycan Turbo S?

Sport Plus mode must be selected, Sport Chrono must be active, and the car must be stationary. Hold the brake firmly with the left foot, then press the accelerator fully with the right. The instrument cluster displays “Launch Control ready.” Release the brake to launch. Full procedure in the Driving Modes chapter.

Can I tow with the Taycan?

Yes — the Taycan is rated for up to 2,600 kg braked trailer and 750 kg unbraked. A factory tow hitch (optional) is required. Towing significantly reduces range. The Towing section of the manual covers hitch installation, trailer sockets, and trailer stability assist.

Where is the 12V battery in a Taycan?

The 12V auxiliary battery is located in the front luggage compartment (frunk). It powers all conventional 12V systems independently of the high-voltage traction battery. Jump-start procedure is in the Emergency chapter of the manual.
